Life above the horizon

很久以前，在圣城麦加，有一个富商的仆人上街买菜，结果就在人群中，看见了死神对他露齿而笑。他吓得连菜都不买了，回去向主人请求帮助。好心的主人借了他一匹快马，让他去麦地那城暂避一时。随后，主人自己上街买菜，又在人群中看见了死神。主人上前质问，你为什么要对我家仆人那样险恶地笑，莫非你要不利于他吗？死神的表情非常无辜，他说当时我不过是觉得奇怪，明明今天晚上我要在麦地那城带走他的，他怎么此刻还在麦加逗留呢？

这是我在多年前从一本电影杂志上看到的故事，摘录自一部古老而苍白的电影。这是一个关于宿命的故事，故事如同绳索一样缚在生命的挣扎与渴望之上，而隐身其中的神秘与虚无却足够走出电影院的人在盛夏的天气里冒出一身冷汗……在别人的故事里忽有所领悟，这，也许就是电影的魔力。

I think I never look far enough.. A lot of wrong and bias decisions that I have made during my life.. Sometimes, I just looked at the very immediate effect of one thing and made the decision based on that.. For example, the fact that I chose my current supervisor .. I really thought he was good for me at that very moment, but now I am getting more and more regretful over my rush decision at that time.. will it impact on my whole life? I dont know.. But I know I can change the thing through my own effort.. I must be more hardworking, more initiative, more creative in solving my research problem now! Sometimes I will think what if I did another decision at every "very moment".. I dont know what would have happened to me now? You never know right? But I told myself again and again.. must look further next time!!! Try to plan and think twice before doing anything!!
